Equimec Triple Broadspectrum Antiparasitic Worming Liquid for Horses
Equimec Triple Worming Liquid is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic liquid for the treatment and control of roundworms, tapeworms, and bots in horses of all ages. It controls all major types of internal parasites in horses.
It controls tapeworms (Anoplocephala perfoliata, Anoplocephala magna, Paranoplocephala mammillana), large strongyles (adults and arterial larval stages of Strongylus vulgaris, adults and tissue stage of Strongylus edentatus, and adult stages of Strongylus equinus and Triodontophorus spp.), and small stongyles (including benzimidazole-resistant strains of Cyathostomum spp., Cylicocyclus spp., Cylicostephanus spp., Cylicodontophorus spp., Gyalocephalus spp.).
Equimec also treats and controls ascarids, including ivermectin resistant strains of Parascaris equorum (adult and immature). Futhermore, it is effective against hairworms (Trichostrongylus axei), large mouth stomach worms (Habronema muscae), bots (Gasterophilus spp.), lungworms (adult and immature Dictyocaulus amfieldi), and intestinal threadworms (adult Strongyloides westeri).
Equimec Triple is also effective for the control of skin lesions caused by Habronema and Draschia spp. cutaneous larvae (summer sores) and Onchocerca spp. microfilariae (cutaneous onchocerciasis). It can be used in horses of all ages, including pregnant mares and breeding stallions, without affecting their fertility. The ready-to-drench, palatable liquid with aniseed flavour makes the administration simple and easy.
How does it work?
Equimec Triple is a triple-action drench that protects your horse from various internal parasites. The dose of 1ml/20kg bodyweight delivers three key ingredients, 0.2mg/kg of ivermectin, 10mg/kg oxibendazole and 2.5mg/kg of praziquantel. Ivermectin kills a broad spectrum of parasites, inluding benzimidazole resistant Strongyles, while the oxibendazole component works to kill ML-resistant (ivermectin) Ascarids. The third ingredient, praziquantel, kills tapeworm heads and segments. This combination of drench can also significantly delay the development of anthelmintic resistance, as the chances of parasites surviving this combination are very low. Even if there are chances of the parasite developing resistance to one ingredient, the chances to develop resistance to the combination of these ingredients would be rare.
- Equimec Triple should be given orally at the recommended dose level of 1ml/20kg bodyweight.
- Shake the product well before administration.
- Deposit the treatment on the rear of the tongue.
- Immediately raise the horse's head for a few seconds after dosing to ensure the full dose has been swallowed.
- Immediately rinse the drench gun after administration.
- Check the accuracy of drench guns regularly.
Suggested Parasite Control Program
- All horses should be included in a regular parasite control program with particular attention being paid to mares, foals, and yearlings.
- For foals: Initially treat at 6 to 8 weeks of age, and repeat routine treatment.
- Consult your veterinarian for a control program to meet your horse’s specific needs.
Meat Withholding Period for Horses:
- Do not use less than 28 days before slaughter for human consumption.
