Seresto collar is an innovative, long-lasting flea and tick protection for dogs. The collar provides flea and paralysis tick protection for up to 8 months. Plus, it kills Brown dog ticks and controls bush ticks in puppies and dogs. Seresto Collar not only kills but also repels deadly paralysis ticks for 4 months.

Seresto Collar reduces transmission of various diseases carried by brown dog ticks that includes Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis for four months. Plus, it treats lice, treats and controls Flea Allergy Dermatitis and reduces the spread of life-threatening vector-borne diseases which are transmitted when ticks take a blood meal from your dog.

Seresto collar offers lasting flea and tick protection in puppies from 7 weeks of age. This easy-to-use collar is odourless and water-resistant.

"Now registered with an additional flea tapeworm infection prevention for dogs and a longer paralysis tick protection for 8 months."

Note: With this change there will be some packaging updates highlighted by overstickering existing Seresto stock. Not every stock, though, can be overstickered. Since the Seresto collar hasn't been altered in any manner to obtain the claim extension, all of the stock that is now in circulation effectively controls paralysis ticks for eight months and prevents flea tapeworm infection.

We understand that these adjustments might raise some concerns. Please refer to the FAQs under the More Info tab.

How does it work?

Seresto collar contains unique combination of imidacloprid and flumethrin. The active ingredients spread from where the collar contacts the skin, over the entire skin surface of your dog. Imidacloprid kills fleas and flumethrin kills ticks. The mode of action does not require fleas or ticks to bite and ingest the chemical. Hence, the dog is protected against flea bites. Existing ticks need to be removed as they cannot be killed immediately after collar application. Seresto is especially designed with a safety-closure mechanism for dog’s safety.

How does it work?
At first sight, Seresto might look like just another pet collar, but there's a lot going on beneath the surface. The collar slowly releases two active ingredients imidacloprid and flumethrin into the lipid (oily/fatty) outer layer of your dog's skin and fur. The collar creates an invisible layer of protection that kills fleas and repels and kills ticks that come into contact with your dog.
How to apply Seresto for dogs
Remove the Seresto dog collar from the pouch. Remove any remaining plastic connectors on the inside of the collar. Put the collar around your dog's neck and insert the loose end into the two loops ? cut off any extra length of collar, leaving about 2 cm of the loose end beyond the second loop.

Make sure it's neither too tight nor too loose. Ideally two fingers fit between the collar and your dog's neck.
FAQs
It's an innovative collar that protects your dog from ticks for four months and fleas for eight months. This means your pets are protected for longer and you have less chance of forgetting to give them their protection.
Seresto's innovative technology enables it to release controlled doses of the active ingredients over a long period of time. The ingredients are transferred to your pet?s skin and coat, and spread across their entire body, keeping your dog protected from ticks for 4 months and fleas for 8 months.
Seresto contains two active ingredients: imidacloprid, which kills adult fleas, and flea larvae; and flumethrin, which repels and kills ticks. No other product has this combination of ingredients.
Seresto kills existing fleas on dogs within 24 hours after application. Once Seresto has been on your dog for 24 hours, reinfesting fleas are killed within 2 hours. Infestation prevention from new ticks starts within 48 hours after Seresto collar application. Reinfesting ticks are repelled and/or killed in as quickly as six hours (data on file).
Ticks may still get on to your dog's coat when your dog brushes past them, even if they are wearing a Seresto collar. The active ingredients work on contact, which means the tick needs to contact the fur to get exposed to the active ingredient. However, once they have climbed on, the ticks will be affected by the active ingredient and will fall off and die.
The vast majority of active ingredients are bound in the collar matrix. Even if your dog manages to eat the whole collar, only mild gastrointestinal upsets are expected. Although it is recommended that you seek veterinary advice, especially when the whole collar has been ingested. However, if your dog manages to get their own collar into his mouth it's likely that it is applied too loosely. Ideally two fingers fit between the collar and your dog?s neck.
It's safe for use on puppies from seven weeks of age.
No. It's even important to put it on without any delay to assure continuous protection of your dog.
No, it doesn't. Seresto is odourless, so there are none of the unpleasant chemical smells you usually associate with flea and tick collars.
No. Stretching the collar for activation is not necessary. Seresto's efficacy against fleas is reached within 24 hours of application and for ticks within 48 hours of application to your pet.
Seresto doesn't work this way, so there's no need to brush the collar anywhere on your pet. Simply put the collar around your dog?s neck and make sure you adjust it properly. The collar will do the rest.
We are not aware of mud having an impact on the release of the active ingredients in Seresto and hence its efficacy. A normal, small amount of dirt would not be expected to be an issue. There could be an impact if the mud is thick and creates a barrier between the collar and the coat of your dog. The Seresto collar has been extensively tested in real-life households, with outdoor dogs, with no reduction in efficacy. If the collar does get dirty, you can simply wipe it down with a moist cloth.
No, you shouldn't attach a leash to the collar, as the force of your pet pulling against it could potentially open the safety mechanism. Use your normal collar to attach to the leash. A normal collar can be used safely next to the Seresto collar. Seresto can be used safely with Seresto charms and a name tag can be attached to the buckle loop.
Seresto does not need to be removed when a dog goes swimming or is bathed. The active ingredients are contained in the collar matrix and are hydrophobic, so are not washed away with swimming and bathing. They spread through the naturally water-resistant layer of the dog's skin and hair and even if some of the active ingredients are partially washed off by bathing, Seresto will quickly replenish the active ingredients and the pet will be protected again.

It is recommended that a soap-free shampoo should be used when bathing.
Seresto is water-resistant*. It remains effective following the use of a soap-free shampoo with non-detergent ingredients (i.e. soap-free dog shampoo), swimming or exposure to rain.
Seresto is designed with a safety-release mechanism. In the unlikely event of your pet being trapped, the collar will widen or open, allowing for a quick release. The small dog collar has a two-step safety mechanism as it is additionally equipped with a predetermined breaking point.
Absolutely. Seresto can be worn alongside your dog's usual collar without compromising its efficacy. Always ensure that the Seresto collar is in contact with the skin (i.e. next to their normal fabric collar).
Sometimes dogs aren't used to wearing collars, so they might develop mild reactions such as scratching, redness and hair loss around the collar. These symptoms usually disappear within one to two weeks, without removing the collar, as your dog gets used to wearing it. In rare cases in dogs, application site reactions such as dermatitis, inflammation, eczema or lesions may occur and in these instances, a temporary collar removal may be recommended until the symptoms have disappeared. Please consult your vet if the symptoms persist or become more severe.

Also, make sure the collar is not too tight ? always ensure you can fit 2 fingers between your dog?s neck and the Seresto collar.
Puppies grow at different rates and we recommend checks of the collar daily or every 2nd day and readjustment if necessary. Watch the video above to see how to fit your Seresto collar properly, and always follow the guidelines that are provided.
This method of application hasn't been tested and it might have an impact on the level of protection your pet receives. For the best flea and tick protection, Seresto should be used all year round. However, if you?ve removed the collar only temporarily (e.g. during grooming), you can reapply it without any problems.
Used collars or any remnants should be disposed of according to the label.

FAQs

Q. Why has the claim for paralysis ticks changed from 4 months to 8 months?

Servo for Dogs previously made the claim that it could control bush ticks (Haemaphysalis longicornis), brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus), and paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus) on dogs for four months. Recent research from two additional studies showed that Seresto was highly effective against paralysis ticks on dogs from months four through eight and that this was true over the course of several months. Seresto is currently approved for use on dogs for an eight-month period for paralysis tick control.

Q. Does Seresto eliminate all ticks on dogs for an entire eight months?

The claims to control bush ticks (Haemaphysalis longicornis) and brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) on dogs have not changed in 4 months. The claims that tick-borne diseases such babesiosis, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis are also still stand at four months.

Q. Seresto's claims of fleas—have they changed?

Since Seresto controls fleas on dogs and flea larvae in their environment for 8 months, the flea claims have not changed. Seresto now has a new claim that it can effectively manage fleas to prevent an infestation of the flea tapeworm infestation (Dipylidium caninum).

Q. Despite a banner I've seen that reads "8 months," the Seresto tin states "4 months." Will this collar work for eight months?

Yes. The extended claim for paralysis ticks will be highlighted by overstickering existing Seresto stock. Not every stock, though, can be overstickered. Since the Seresto collar has not been altered in any way to obtain the claim extension, all current stock now successfully controls paralysis ticks for a period of eight months. To control brown dog ticks or diseases spread by ticks like ehrlichiosis, the collar should be changed every four months.

Q. How long will the stickers remain on the tins?

The stickers will be used as a temporary measure until new packaging is ready and are a way to let buyers know about the new claim as soon as feasible. Elanco estimates that the revised tins will go on sale in the middle of 2023.
